Meet Ty Petty

My name is Ty Petty and I live in St. George, Utah. I grew up playing saxophone, clarinet, flute, and piano and had the opportunity of playing in Caleb Chapman’s Crescent Super Band (World’s best high school age jazz band according to DownBeat magazine), and played lead alto in the Utah All-State jazz band 2 years in a row. After high school I continued playing music at BYU in Provo, Utah in their premier bands Synthesis and Wind Symphony while studying under Dr. Ray Smith and Dr. Ben Nichols. My favorite music is Jazz and I have performed with musicians such as Jeff Coffin, Rashawn Ross (Both from the Dave Mathews band), Jody Espina (Founder of Jody Jazz), Steve Smith (Journey), Donny McCaslin, and Victor Wooten. Please listen to the sample of me playing below to see what I can do!
I love jazz and I am accomplished in classical music. I am always open to hearing new students so please reach out if you would be interested in taking saxophone lessons or clarinet lessons from me. I teach students in the Cedar City and St. George areas.
Check out a recording of me playing baritone saxophone with the Crescent Super Band for a better idea of what I have accomplished musically.
